Customer-facing CV action words

These verbs are for work a customer could see: a till, a call, a shop floor or a booked meeting. They are not a list to paste in white text.

The example bullets are fictional. Replace the setting with a shift or a call you can explain.

Verbs

Welcomed

The first thing you did when someone arrived or called.

Example, fictional: Welcomed the queue and called for another colleague when it reached the door.

Explained

You put a bill, a delay or a product into plain English.

Example, fictional: Explained the failed payment and the new date before ending the call.

Logged

You wrote a note the next person could act on.

Example, fictional: Logged the promise, the account and the deadline in the CRM before hanging up.

Booked

You put a time in a diary, not a vague “I’ll call you”.

Example, fictional: Booked the renewal meeting before the contract month.

Refunded

You completed a refund you were allowed to make.

Example, fictional: Refunded the delivery charge after checking the carrier scan, and emailed the confirmation.

Resolved

The customer left with a finished answer, not a transfer.

Example, fictional: Resolved the billing query on the first call by agreeing a payment date and sending the note.

Reconciled

You matched money or stock to a record.

Example, fictional: Reconciled the till at close and wrote down the two prices that did not match the shelf.

Handed over

You passed work to the next shift or to finance.

Example, fictional: Handed the signed order to finance with the start date and the billing contact.

FAQ

Should I start every bullet with a different verb?

No. Repeat “logged” or “explained” if that is what you did. A thesaurus line is harder to believe than a plain one.

Are these the same as a retail CV?

The verbs overlap. The retail, customer service and sales examples show how they sit in a full CV.

Can I use “liaised”?

Only if you say who you spoke to and what changed. On its own it means nothing.

Do I need a number in every bullet?

No. A date, a queue or a note is enough when you did not count the week.
