Sales executive CV example

Rowan Blake is not a real salesperson. The software firm, the book of accounts and the sample quarter are invented. Write deals you can talk through, including the ones that did not close.

A UK sales CV should not invent a quota percentage. If you did not own the number, describe the activity: calls logged, meetings booked, orders handed to finance.

Personal statement

Sales executive with four years selling business software to existing accounts. I log the next step in the CRM before I leave the call, and I do not forecast a deal that has no date. Looking for a role with a named book of accounts.

Experience

Sales executive

Fieldnote Software (fictional) · March 2022 – present

  • Own a book of existing accounts in the Midlands, and book the renewal conversation before the contract month.
  • In a made-up sample quarter, wrote the next step and the date on every open opportunity, and removed two deals that had no meeting in the diary.
  • Prepare a one-page note before a visit: what they bought, what is unused, and the question I am there to ask.
  • Hand a signed order to finance with the start date and the billing contact, not a verbal yes.

Account executive

Paperline (fictional supplier) · July 2020 – February 2022

  • Called a set list of customers each week and recorded the outcome, including “no answer”, so the next person did not start from zero.
  • Quoted only from the price list, and asked a manager before offering a discount.

Education

  • BSc Business, 2020

Skills

  • Account plans and renewal dates
  • CRM notes with a next step
  • Forecasts that match the diary
  • Discovery questions before a proposal
  • Handover to finance with the billing contact

What to show

  • Whether you sold to new logos, existing accounts, or both
  • The CRM habit: next step and date, not a dump of call notes
  • How a deal moves from a meeting to an order finance can bill
  • A forecast you would still defend if someone opened the diary
  • The product in plain English
  • Discount rules you followed

Common mistakes

  • A revenue number you cannot explain.
  • “President’s club” with no year and no criterion.
  • A customer name and their contract value together.
  • A photo.
  • Keywords in white text.
  • Calling activity a result when nothing was booked.

ATS keywords

“Hunter” and “farmer” only help if the advert uses them and your work matches.

  • account executive
  • CRM
  • pipeline
  • renewals
  • forecast
  • discovery
  • quota
  • B2B
  • existing accounts

FAQ

Should I put my quota on the CV?

Only if you know the target, the period and the result. If you did not own a number, describe the meetings and the orders instead.

Can I name customers?

Not with their spend. A sector is enough unless the customer has agreed to be a reference.

Do UK sales CVs need a photo?

No. Leave off a photo and your date of birth.

How is this different from a retail CV?

Retail shows the shop floor, the till and the hours. A sales executive CV shows a book of accounts, a CRM and a next step. Use the page that matches the advert.
